Baltibrewers:

Based on the voting results, this month's meeting will be moved to Thursday, October 13 at Alewife.  We will start promptly at 8:00 p.m. as we have a few important things to discuss.  Here's the agenda:

  • Guild holiday party - what's our theme?  What beer will we brew to go with this theme?  When and where will this beer be brewed?  Who will host the brew?  We should also discuss food, decorations and attire as it relates to our chosen theme.
  • Upcoming competitions - there are a few good comps coming up worth discussing.
  • BBW - any updates on Chilibrew IV and feedback on the home brew demos.
  • Any new business

Also we found out (thanks Steve!) that Josh is no longer with Alewife so we'll have a new server to break in PLUS it's $5 pints on October 13 so we can drink great beer for less!!

Prosit!

Jester

The Sun has us as one of the top ten events for BBW 2011.

Check it!

Baltibrewers - so far, moving the October meeting to another location on another date is leading the site polling.

At this point, we need brewers to post in the comment section where & when so we can get some idea of what works for you.

Cheers,

Jester

Baltibrewers:

The October meeting happens to fall on the opening day of this year's Baltimore Beer Week.  Given that some of you have plans to attend the opening events @ Power Plant Live or BBW events, we need to consider what to do about this month's meeting.

On the night of our meeting, Alewife will be busy getting ready for Karaoke with Brian Strumke starting at 9:00 p.m.  It's an event they have listed on the BBW website so it's quite likely we might have a problem with noise and even getting a meeting space.  That being said, look at the poll options and see which might work for this month.  If you vote for having the meeting another place/date, please use the comment section to suggest a date & place.

What should we do about our October 2011 meeting?

  • Move it to another date & place. (58%, 7 Votes)
  • Still have it on October 6 and see who shows up. (25%, 3 Votes)
  • Scrap it for this month. (17%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 12

Sorry for the late postponement of last weeks meeting, but the Grand Prix had other ideas. So let it be know that we will be meeting this thursday, the 8th of sept. at our regular time of 8pm at Alewife.

See you there!

Since we meet at Alewife, and that's pretty much right in the epicenter of the Grand Prix festivities/traffic nightmare, we will be rescheduling our usual meeting from tonight's first Thursday date/time.

More on when later…

Just a reminder that we will have our monthly meeting tomorrow (thursday sept. 1st) at alewife starting at 8PM (promptly).  Also, be sure to invite your significant others if you want.  Alewife has a good non-beer selection as well.

Tentative agenda below:

  • NASA Crab Feast sponsored by the Guild, Zymurnauts, and SPBW: http://mdhomebrewers.com/crab/ --Ticket prices increase from $35 to $40 next tuesday (9/6).
  • Baltimore Beer Week
  • Chili Brew
  • Guild Holiday Party: We need a favorite 1950's TV show for our club table.
  • October group brew (consider brewing specifically for the holiday party).

Join us tomorrow 8/27 at member Greg Slack's house for our August brew — 45 gallons of a fairly traditional Kölsch.

Start time is 8:30 a.m. Greg and Steve Hulbert will be leading the brew.

Bring the following items:

  •  Good Beer! (Homebrew or store-bought. We'll have ice for the beer)
  •  Meat to grill (Or meat alternative if your diet tends in another direction.) And other food to share. FYI, John is taking care of the donuts.
  •  Folding chair
  •  Rain gear. (We expect the hurricane to begin its arrival while we're brewing)
  •  6 gallon fermentation bucket if you RVSP'd to take home wort.
  •  Money to pay for your wort — $25. Anyone who needs to pay membership dues should bring another $10 for the prorated dues.

If for some reason we're forced to suspend activities or cancel entirely due to the storm, we will repost here, and send out emails.

If you have any questions, call Steve Hulbert @ 410.905.8082.
