Baltibrew's 2013 Big Brew participation will take place at Nepenthe this Saturday, May the 4th. Further details on the event can be found on the facebook event created by Nepenthe.
The long and short is that some of our members and a few of Brewtherville Labs' members will be brewing in Nepenthe's parking lot starting at 10 a.m.
If you're interested in brewing at the event, contact us to get coordinated.
Those of you who've already committed to brewing, please get your recipes to the folks at Nepenthe asap.
April meeting will take place Thursday, 4-18 at our new regular spot, Nepenthe Homebrew, located in Meadow Mill at 3600 Clipper Mill Road #130 a. Once again, bring your own chair to meeting. Meeting starts at 8 p.m. sharp.
See you there.
Once again, Baltibrew will move its monthly meeting location. We gratefully appreciate all that Dionysus did for us the past year or so, and wish the ownership luck on new ventures.
Starting March 21st, we will begin meeting at Nepenthe Homebrew, located in Meadow Mill at 3600 Clipper Mill Road #130 a.
Meeting time will still be 8 p.m, which is closing time for the shop, so get there early if you want to buy stuff. At least for this meeting, bring your own chair.
You may (and should) still bring homebrew to meeting.
February's meeting was productive, and efficiently SHORT! for once. Read the minutes.
Baltibrew is involved as a sponsor with Wootown's Barley Legal homebrew competition coming up on March 23rd. There's still time to submit your homebrew to the competition (March 16th deadline), but what we really need from Baltibrewers is your time to serve as a judge or a steward for the event. As the details on the site linked above will tell you, there's some great prizes available, and in the competition's past, volunteers have been very well taken care of.
Baltibrew is also gearing up for the National Homebrewer's Conference in Philadelphia this June. We've picked out an interesting theme for club night, and we're starting work on beers to showcase how unique our club is. Even if you're not planning to attend the conference, your input would be invaluable.
Last but not least, in gearing up for the 15th anniversary of the Free State Homebrewer's Guild, the guild has put out a survey that we'd like you to take. Deadline to complete the survey is March 10th.
Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, and Baltibrew will meet at Jon Blair's house to brew several beers (Chocolate Milk Stout, Ned Rye-erson IPA, and an Mexican-American Lager).
Mike Pietropaoli will be doing the Rye-PA Brew-In-A-Bag style. If you're unfamiliar with that unique process, this would be a great opportunity to learn all about it.
Jon has also invited members to bring their own rigs, and brew alongside him.
As usual, bring food and beer to share. Brew day starts at 10 a.m. sharp.
AHA Philly Conference (a.k.a. the National Homebrewer's Conference, June 27–29) tickets go on sale Tuesday afternoon (February 5th), and hotel bookings begin that morning. To register, you must be an AHA member. Sign up if you haven't already, and intend to purchase tickets.
Much like our own Guild Holiday Party, this will sell out incredibly fast. Baltibrew, and many other Maryland clubs plan to attend the event. Philly is reputedly woefully under-represented on the homebrew front; the Free State intends to take up their slack.
We will send out a reminder prior to opening of sales to buy your tickets, but we'd very much like to have an idea who from Baltibrew plans to go so we can organize rideshares, hotel roommates, etc. Sound off in the comment thread of this post if you're planning to go, please.
Last but not least…
In conjunction with Wootown, Baltibrew has agreed to participate as co-organizers of the Barley Legal homebrew competition to be held March 23rd. More details on that to come, but keep it in mind for your brew scheduling.
Tonight (1-17-2013) at 8 p.m, Baltibrew will meet at Dionysus on the second floor, as usual.
Agenda:
And of course we'll try some delicious homebrew.
Hope to see you there.
It's our final regular meeting of the year tomorrow, 12/20 — 8 pm at Dionysus in Mount Vernon.
We'll be conducting a Secret Santa bottle exchange, and we'll start making plans for Baltibrew's busy-as-ever 2013.
If you're interested in taking part in the bottle exchange, post to the forum thread, or email me before 5 pm today (Wednesday.) I'll be running a santa matcher and will notify you of your match well before tomorrow's meeting.
On the agenda for club business:
If you're interested in nominating someone or yourself but can't make the meeting, post in the comments here and we'll bring it up at meeting.
Thanks, and hope to see you there.
We really hope all you craft brew lovers will come out to support alewife queens on their road to post-sandy recovery:
(please share/invite whomever you think will be interested)
Below is the link to the minutes from last weeks November meeting. The most important thing is getting people to volunteer to help cook the items we have listed on our menu. We also need people to bring items they think will work for decorating our space willy wonka style, as well as dress up as special characters from the movie.
I've put together a spreadsheet for members to fill in in terms of stepping up in those categories Please go here and fill in what you will be doing in terms of decorations/food/costumes. The guild party is 2 WEEKS and although i know this week is busy, try and fill it in when you can.
Have a great thanksgiving everyone, travel safe, and enjoy your time with your family/friends. (and of course some great autumn beers)
